  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (approximately 110°F)


  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt.
  2. Add the warm water and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rest at room temperature for 12-18 hours.
  4. After the dough has rested, preheat your oven to 450°F.
  5. Place a Dutch oven or heavy-bottomed pot with a lid in the oven to preheat for 30 minutes.
  6. While the pot is preheating, turn the dough out onto a well-floured surface and shape it into a ball.
  7. Carefully transfer the dough to the preheated pot and cover with the lid.
  8. Bake the bread covered for 30 minutes, then remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  9. Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
